New London Ledge lighthouse is located in Groton, Connecticut at the mouth of the New London Harbor on the Thames River. In 1909 it was built on the Southwestern Ledge. New London Ledge lighthouse was originally named the Southwest Ledge light but was renamed in 1910 to avoid confusion with a lighthouse with the same name in New Haven Harbor. New London Ledge lighthouse was erected due to the New London Harbor lighthouse was inadequate to direct boats around the harbor entrance ledges.

New London Ledge lighthouse can be viewed from the shore at Pequot Avenue. However, it is best viewed from ferries leaving New London.
